What are some causesto be aware of before I do estimates and take it in for repair? I never had this issue before. Its a 2006 pontiac g6…

I would assume that the motor that makes them run is broken and as for how much it cost I have no idea you will just have to take it in Im pretty sure it wouldn’t cost too much.

Well the motor could be bad and it should not take much to repair it but don’t be so sure that it wont.

Two possibilities the wiper arms are loose , tight the nuts or the mechanism inside came loose , so the motor turns but no the bars, look trough the little grill , just below the windshield, there is a bar that runs from the motor to the other wiper arm , if you hear the motor running but the bars are not they came out of the motor bracket , so remove that grill and connect the bar back in place , just push it back in to the ball pin , if it comes back out again , the bushing must be replace

Enter your make year model on http://www.autozone.com and check the cost of a new (or remanufactured) windshield wiper motor. A shop might charge about the same labor as the motor part costs. Find a good shop at http://www.IATN.net/shopfinder in your neighborhood.

If the wiper motor is running but the wipers not sweeping, then your wiper linkage has either popped off it’s connector or has broken. This is the weakest link in a wiper system and is easily fixed.
In some cars this is a designed in fail safe to protect the wiper motor/gears when the wipers get stuck or frozen.
